Chosen hoof trim:

The hooves on the forelegs were trimmed in a basic way.

For the hind limbs, we lowered the heels with the rasp so as to extend their bearing surface as much as possible in plantar direction. By trimming the medial wall of the hoof, we reduce its circumference and balance the lateromedial balance.

Shoe preparation :

According to the trimmed hoof, we measure the size of the Dallmer shoe, which has a free part of the gluing edge on the extension side. After placing the shoe on the hoof, we press it onto the wall of the hoof and draw the edge of the hoof with a marker on the extension part of the shoe. Then the Dallmer's shoe is adjusted. According to the drawn line, we screw the side movable part of the liner to its lower part, thus fixing its size. According to the laxity of the left hind limb, the extension in the maximum range was chosen.

SHoeing:

Dallmer's shoe and hoof were thoroughly cleaned. To protect the coronary band, adhesive tape was glued around the entire circumference about 1 cm below the edge. The liner was then glued with Superfast Vettec two-component glue.

Veterinary measures:

Organized movement, grazing 3 x1-2h per day. A spacious box, which will be set with straw around the walls, where the foal will find a suitable place to rest. When standing on a hard surface in the unbedded part of the box, the effect of extension is ensured.

The farrier's inspection is necessary at least every 10-14 days, when the hooves should be trimmed and Dallmer's shoes reset (shortening the extension and enlarging the cirkumference in connection with the growth of the hoof.

7. Development of changes

Efect of the 1. trim

Improved function of the DDFT was obvious right after aplication.

Changes in shoe choice and shoeing:

At checkup after 5 days was obvious that the choseno levou přední končetinu jako nedostatečné.

Efekt 1. podkovářského opatření - Farriery treatment effect:

I přes veškeré pravidelné úpravy a používání Dallmerových podkůvek se nepodařilo daný vývoj změnit k lepšímu.

Výsledek péče – Result of the care:

Dne 18.10. 2018 se veterinární lékař rozhodl pro desmotomii hlubokého ohybače. V tomto případě přetnout přídavnou hlavu hlubokého ohybače vyhodnotil jako nedostačující.

Obr. č. 5. - 7.: Jako dodatečnou podporu jsme použili hliníkový plech. Za pomocí Superfastu byl vytvořen klínek v patkové části mezi destičku a stávající podpatek. Na dorzální část byla připevněna hliníková destička, abychom zamezili překlubování.
