PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The aim of this project is to innovate, with the participation of three partner institutions, curriculum for a professional course Farrier Specialist, which is focused on the curriculum necessary to master the Farrier Specialist qualification. Farrier's work directly affects the quality of life or further usability of the horse. At the beginning of this project, there was no possibility to attend a similar course in any of the partner countries.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT:
To innovate the curriculum of vocational course Farrier Specialist based on the results of the project "Euro-Farrier" (within the project curricula for all qualification levels were prepared and tested, but curriculum for the level Farrier Specialist was not prepared sufficiently comprehensive, to allow the graduates of the course to pass the qualification exam), to meet the requirements of practice within EFFA and to unify these curricula in all countries involved in the project.
Preparation of vocational study materials which will be available to all students of the course Farrier Specialist in electronic form in czech and english language.
To ensure a high level of teaching quality of the course Farrier Specialist at partner institutions through teacher training and purchase of modern equipment.
To establish a platform for ongoing collaboration among the partner institutions and other institutions and individuals that are dedicated to the teaching and practice in the field of farriery.
TARGET GROUPS OF THE PROJECT AND THEIR SPECIFIC NEEDS:
STUDENTS:

Possibility to study a professional farrier specialist course at educational institutions in partner countries of sufficient quality (currently not available in any country)

Possibility to study the subject at educational institutions in partner countries under the same conditions and use the possibility to spend part of the study abroad and to extend their possibilities of practice (using scholarship programs, eg Erasmus +),

Modern study materials that will correspond to the highest qualification level Farrier specialist.
LECTURERS:

Possibility to provide education of students in the field Farrier specialist with a high level of quality and using the latest approaches of veterinary medicine,

the absence of permanent international cooperation in order to unify the teaching and practice requirements of students of the farrier's disciplines and to exchange experience.

FARRIER’S KNOWLEDGE AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS DIRECTLY AFFECT PERFORMANCE AND QUALITY OF LIFE OF THE HORSE
The main problem that farriers face in practice is the lameness of the horse and its diagnosis. The human eye is not able to see movement deviations in the range of eg 6mm within a distance of 10 m. It has been proven from many years of practice that almost 80% of movement problems in horses can be solved by farriers. For this reason, the Farrier specialist needs knowledge and skills to accurately diagnose lameness, to evaluate its causes, to perform farrier treatment and shoeing, and to evaluate retrospectively the effectiveness of the measures taken.
