This is only a very brief summary of the basic very demanding knowledge and skills. Farrier specialist, according to long-term experience of breeders, farriers and veterinarians, treats in cooperation with veterinarians and breeders about 80% of lame horses. However, an expert with this qualification directly influences the quality of life and often decides directly on the further use or euthanasia of the horse. Close cooperation with veterinarians, horse breeders and owners is essential. Study and of course the Farrier specialist's exam is very demanding on the expertise in the anatomy, physiology and pathology of the distal part of the horse's limb, with an emphasis on practical teaching of all diseases that can be solved by farrier.
